ARK: Survival Evolved

You heard me right folks! I'm creating a series that just has random characters trying to survive the ARKs. It'll be leaning more to real life logic instead of ARK Gameplay, but rest assured, there will be some gameplay elements. Anyway, just read these rules and submit characters!

1. No kaiju. I'm sorry, but the only kaiju here would be modded ones or the Titans.

2. No extinct animals

3. 5 characters max per reply

4. If possible, give me a short description on how your character(s) would behave so I can try to be more in character.

5. Try not to give overpowered characters, but if you drop a Goku or a Saitama, I've got plans to show them some Primal Fear or make them less Pugnaci(a)ous if they're suggested

There are quite a few upcoming dinosaur-related series and movies coming in 2024 and 2025.

Which ones are you excited for and which ones did I forget? :)

Of course, there's Forgotten Bloodlines: Agate, qhich to be honest, I'm most excited for. It's all about the fauna of Agate Fossil Beds in Nebraska, 20 million years ago. It's featuring the great Nigel Marven as narrator and its coming in early 2025 (hopefully).

It's amazing how a project made by a group of amateurs (no offense to the creators) looks better than paleo docs made by professional studios (maybe even Life On Our Planet).

Dinosaur Empire, from what I know, seems to be a dinosaur documentary that features segments without narration, like Dinotasia. David Krentz, who has worked on design and character creation for countless other film projects (helped design for Prehistoric Planet, I think), is co-directing. Hopefully this doesn't mean anthropomorphic dinosaurs.

Like FBA, this series was on Kickstarter. It looks pretty good in terms of CGI and dinosaur designs. Coming in March 2024 unless delayed.

Unlike the other paleo docs here, Why Dinosaurs? focuses on dino fans today. It appears to be all about people who love dinosaurs and why they do. Looks like a few popular paleontologists (Jack Horner, Peter Larson, etc.) are hopping on to talk.

This dinosaur documentary, creatively titled T. rex, is all about T. rex. The Rex on the poster looks pretty great in terms of accuracy, and hopefully we finally get T. rex recreated properly onscreen (the description says it aims to do so).

Then of course, there's Surviving Earth. Not much is known, except that Tim Haines (Walking With...) is making it, 8 episodes will be featured, and that it's streaming on NBC. hopefully it's as good as Walking With Dinosaurs was in 1999.

There is also ARK: The Animated Series, an anime show based on a video game about riding dinosaurs and punching trees. This show is never coming out.

Even though none if you have heard of the Jurassic Park franchise 🗿, I don't have time to explain it. However, an unnamed 7th Jurassic film has been confirmed for 2025. The only big news so far is that David Koepp, who wrote the first 2 films, is returning to write this one.

With the demand for paleo documentaries rising more and more, Amazon decided to throw a billion dollars at this new series, Dinos World. As well as the incredibly lame title, Jurassic Park logo ripoff, and Jack Horner narrating it, Dinos World has numerous scientific inaccuracies.

Disney Pixar skips all the ARK maps and creates a movie adaptation of ARK 2, a dinosaur video game that hasn't even been released. Not starring Vin Diesel, this low-budget film features a few dinosaurs such as Velociraptor and T-Rex.

Disney Pixar's latest animated film stars a young Quetzal on a search to find her lost parents. Get ready for a song filled adventure in Quetzal!

Pixar remakes their blockbuster film, ARK, with new up-to-date animation.

Disney Pixr creates a long anticipated film titled Great Dying. Starring a young Scutosaurus on his mission to save his herd. They will encounter many dangers, and at the end, they all die.

Common name: Pinaco

Species: Pinacosaurus katedafsis(Demolition)

Time: Cretaceous

Diet: Plants

Temperament: Hurt me and I give you a beating for the ages

Wild:

Pinacosaurus is one of Extinction's weirder animals. Sure, it has to compete with turret theropods and ice jumping dragon wolves, but Pinacosaurus is stranger because of one thing. It makes a REALLY good Demoman.

Pinacosaurus are often found eating burnt trees for their charcoal. When consuming the charcoal, along with flint and stone, Pinacosaurus creates a gunpowder-like substance that can be used in firearms for deadly effect.

Domesticated:

Pinacosaurus are experts at gathering charcoal and flint, which on its own helps tribes make firearms, but a Pinacosaurus can make gunpowder for half the cost! This allows it to be used as a gathering mount, but also allows it to be used as a combat mount. Pinacosaurus saddles are often equipped with cannons or catapults used to help in war or tame larger wildlife, such as a Titanosaur or Rock Elemental.

Gameplay:

Saddle Unlock: Basic saddle is at level 35. Cannon/Catapult saddle unlocked at 65. Tek Cannon/Rocket saddle at beating Desert Titan.

Found: Wasteland, Sanctuary. For non Extinction maps, volcanos and deserts.

Speed: Anky-Stego

Attacks: Tail smack, turret/cannon/Catapult(if saddle allows)

Size: Twice as wide as Carbonemys, around length of Stego

Base health: 2300

Behavior:

If you don't hurt him, you're fine

Taming:

Just passive feed him some beer

Special saddle stuff:

Dynamite! Dynamite is crafted in all 3 saddles. Dynamite requires 50 fiber, 25 gunpowder, and 20 sparkpowder for one. Dynamite gets put into a slot in the saddle and it appears on the tail in the model. It is a one time use to deal either 10 times more damage or gather 7.5 more resources then you normally would with a tail slap.

Cannon/Catapult: They're the same. They get put in a special slot and will fire if you have ammo. They're fired with right click

Tek Cannon/Rocket: Imagine the Mek Module, but place it on a Pinacosaurus. Use this to tame creatures and commit murder as you please.

Anyway, there may or may not be an easter egg where if you kill an Alpha Pinaco(I'm adding those. Yes, Apex Venom from my Quinkana works on Pinaco), you might get a chance to get the Cyclops skin for Pinacosaurus, which gives it an eyepatch and a costume somewhat similar to the Demoman from TF2. Also, all of its roars sound like they've been vocoded to Demoman's speech also.

Hey y’all! Here’s a custom Ark dossier that I wanted to make for a while, and uh, credit to @TheGeckoGamer for the idea and permission for this.

Common name: Quinkana

Species: Quinkana dolophonos(assassin)

Time: Cenozoic or something, idk

Diet: Meat

Tempermant: Uhh, hates apexes I guess

Wild:

Quinkana is an interesting creature, to say the least. Found in the swamps and redwoods of the Island, it seems that, at a glance, it would behave like a larger Kaprosuchus. That is a very wrong guess

Quinkana is much more interesting due to its venom, dubbed “Apex Venom”. This venom is dangerous, though not deadly, to most creatures. It will just drain them from stamina and make them easier to catch, but when used on an apex predator, being any animal that can have an “Alpha” variant, or Giganotosaurus, it is highly lethall

Domesticated:

When domesticated, Quinkana is a highly effective creature to deal with any rampaging apex. Quinkana is a highly mobile creature, making it an ideal companion to traverse the Island’s cave systems also.

GAMEPLAY:

Saddle unlock: somewhere between 70-90

Found: redwoods and swamps

Speed: Around Carno-Theri

Attacks: Bite, Tail Smack, Speed Boosting Lunge(increases speed by 20% for 20 seconds. Cooldown of 25 seconds)

Can jump!

Size: Bary

Base health: 750

Apex Venom:

When on an apex creature, it deals -5 health and -25 stamina per second, and it stacks, being able to go up to 10

Behavior thingy:

It won’t attack you unless you attack it first, or are nearby a tamed apex creature

Common name: Musk ox

Species: Ovibos moschatus

Time: Pleistocene

Diet: Herbivore

Temperament: Short-Tempered

Wild: If you’re in the ARK’s tundras, keep an eye out for what looks like a ball of fur with buffalo horns. The musk ox is the cow of the Arctic.

Studying these mammals’ thick fur has shown me the advantage they have in their freezing habitats. It warms and protects them from the cold and enemies. Another iconic feature is their buffalo-like horns, which are formidable weapons to use against any careless survivors that anger the musk ox.

A group of musk ox can easily fend off most tundra predators. Not t. rex, however, which is one of this bovine’s only natural predators.

Domesticated: Upon being brought down, musk oxen must be comforted by the survivor. Afterwards, the musk ox forms a small bond of trust, but must still be fed from the surrounding snowy ferns and bushes.

Species: Azdarchidae

Time: Maastrichtian

Diet: Gigas, Rexes, Rhyniognatha

Temperament: Sky carchar

Wild: Apparently, the Sky Giganotosaurus called Rhyniognatha is not at the end of the line for rulers of the sky. Aerotitan huge is the huge Sky Carcharodontosaurus of ultimate power!

The Aerotitan huge has a massive wingspan of over 200 feet. It can travel at great speeds on land, in the air, and in water. Tribes should keep an eye out for this moderately dangerous predator. It roosts on massive sea cliffs, taking up the entire cliff with its average size.

Domesticated: The only way to tame this mid-level war-beast is to trap it in TEK, the only structure it can’t destroy quickly. Firing at its head with multiple cannons will work to put it unconscious.

The Aerotitan huge is a powerful war beast, being able to lift gigas and carry them to their doom.

The beak of Aerotitan huge can breathe a scorching fire breath.

Common name: Mapusaurus titanic

Species: Big Theropod

Time: A long time ago

Diet: Bosses, Titanosaurs, Carchars

Temperament: Murderous

Wild: The largest creature on the ARKs, Mapusaurus titanic is a terrible killer.

Twice the size of Titanosaurus, Mapusaurus titanic can easily kill any other creature in its domain.

Domesticated: The only way to tame the Mapusaurus titanic is to use mounted Astrocetus cannons and fire at its skull. However this is dangerous as the icy breath of Mapusaurus titanic can easily kill most Astrocetus.

Other than its fangs, arms, tail, and stomp, the Mapusaurus titanic can emit an icy blast from its mouth. Instantly killing small creatures and freezing larger ones, this attack makes it a useful creature.
