So basically this time around, a new study by Dr. Kenshu Shamada suggests that megs were less chonky like white sharks and more slim like lemon sharks. This would've allowed it to move through the water better than if it were chonky.
The blue whale was used as a modern analogy for the shape/hydrodynamics comparison.
Basically the researchers compared living and extinct sharks' trunk lengths and, with the inclusion of meg vertebra found in Portugal and Denmark, concluded O. megalodon could reach up to 80 feet.

Also the study suggests pups may have been born at 10 - 13 feet long, not 6.5 feet as previously thought.
