For those who want to read or catch up on the last episode of dinopedia prehistoric park
The park has been busy with multiple things in the park. The most recent land additions to the park have been put in their enclosures from holding pens except the tyrannosaurus rex and the anzu. The reason being for the tyrannosaurus is still recovering from its legs being broken from a failed hunt on a ankylosaurus and needs to be monitored for recovery. The anzu is in a holding pen after multiple attempts to keep it contained it kept doing dust baths near the fence posts. The ankylosaurus has been a little problematic at times due to its short temper and powerful tail. The ankylosaurus has yet to break out. But it has a habit of breaking down small trees in its enclosure and staff like Rexyisdebest and megalania enthusiast have been worried that the ankylosaurus will eventually hit the fence posts and then get out. The park was very lucky though. As you remember last episode the male spinosaurus was thought to be dead from an attack from the smilosuchus when the spinosaurus tried fishing in the pond the phytosaur lives in that resulted in the spinosaurus having its whole head pulled under the water resulting in what the park thought was a drowning and death of the spinosaurus. To determine what happened they brought the spinosaurus to medical holding enclosure. But a few hours later after the supposed death of the male Spinosaurus and the sedatives would have been worn off a ranger on their way to watch over the tyrannosaurus rex swore they saw the male Spinosaurus breathing. So the keepers went to check on it and they saw it breathing as well. The medical team came to figure out what was going on with it. But when they arrived they were met with a standing hungry spinosaurus. The spinosaurus was alive but they were confused as to why the spinosaurus was alive after what the smilosuchus did. Turns out to better survive attacks from large crocodilians in the wild it adapted a behavior to prevent issues from crocodilians involving a single attack that they are known for death rolls. Since North Africa during the time of the spinosaurus was full of large crocodilians it adapted this behavior as a defensive way to survive. If the crocodilian thought that the Spinosaurus was dead it would have no reason to go into a death roll. But the question still stands why did it happen for so long. The reason was sort of simple actually after further investigation the spinosaurus goes into a sort of sedated like state from the defense mechanism. It was just lengthened in time from the sedatives. The park staff were also very happy about something that happened involving the torosaurus and triceratops that were brought back it was mating season for the two species and with multiple males and females in the park they were expecting in about a month to see eggs. Last episode the park also started a search for the missing diplocaulus that went missing after the storm that had hit the park. It had been found after a bit of time looking for it but it was not in very good condition. The diplocaulus was swept down stream and found crashed into some rocks. It had been brought to a holding pen with its tail in a brace. To prevent another incident like this one a building for animals that are smaller is being built it would be like a reptile house or bird building at a zoo the other Permian period animals and the anzu would also be put there. But once it is built the park will be open to tours to help fund the park. The Aquatic center has been slowly better built and the Dolichorhynchops and platecarpus have been put in their permanent residences.
The park has been preparing as well for another trip to the past this time to get a few more animals and the location that was decided apon was one of the most iconic formations in history that being the Morrison Formation. The group got the gear ready and got the time portal ready but as they were getting into the jeep to help with moving around a head 12 feet off the ground appeared through it and then it let out a highly shrill cry from its sharp toothed jaws as it walked through it was very recognizable what it is a allosaurus jimmadseni the size was what gave it away compared to other allosaurus species. But the group now had a problem they were not expecting such a large predator and the time portal was set a little too far back they tried scaring the allosaurus back through but it was not going anywhere and just stood there before it rushed the group jaws open. The group was able to get away barely before anyone got hurt barely. With it in a holding pen it was clear that they were now stuck with it but they forgot to close the time portal and something big was walking through the time portal that makes the allosaurus seem small.
When the staff were catching their breathe they heard a very loud bellow and crushing of metal as looked at the direction of the noise a pair of camarasaurus and a subadult brachiosaurus they closed the time portal and accessed the situation. The group decided to not even attempt to sedate these giants. But they can't keep them in a traditional holding pen because of their size. The Brachiosaurus is slightly bigger than the camarasaurus. The staff open the gate to a special holding pen for sauropods. The group decided to get the sauropods situated before they brought more things back
Two weeks later
The park has finally got the sauropods situated the allosaurus has been put in its permanent residence and the construction of the small animal building has been partially built the are for all the Permian animals ranging from the edaphosaurus to the cacops to the diplocaulus the anzu also has been situated in building. But reports throughout the park of something small as well as many dead lizards and small snakes throughout the park. So the keepers set a trap for the cause of the dead animals. That was a week ago and since then nothing has taken the bait that was until they heard a loud noise from the spinosaurus enclosure the noise of something that is not a spinosaurus the staff went to figure out what it was. The spinosaurus pair were busy with getting fish for food for their hatchlings but that means what ever is causing this is not going to get much resistance but together the hatchlings stood their ground as a small feathered dinosaur lunged at them but the noise attracted another one of these small therapods to the enclosure. But the parents arrived and the small therapods started to flee but once outside the enclosure they were sedated. Scarylookinghobo and megalania enthusiast looked through the books to figure out what these weird therapods were with no video evidence of what time period it was from they then found the page for tanycolagreus. Features started to match up to the animal caught the diet matched and the anatomy matched and the size matched. It was figured out to be tanycolagreus and they were surprised that they were able to get one for the park due to how rare they are in the formation.
The park capture group was ready this time to go to the Morrison Formation for real this time. The group went through the time portal and was surprised at the sight they were looking at a herd of diplodocus with young. They decided to not catch a diplodocus as they already had to keep two larger sauropods fed and maintained. But the peace was interrupted by a loud noise from the woods a juvenile from the herd was being attacked by a large red and black therapod that was larger than the allosaurus they got unexpectedly. The group saw this as an option to possibly get both. The group set up the time portal and got the therapods attention but it was too late for the sauropod because the therapod got it by the neck and the windpipe was ripped apart from the serrated teeth. The therapod was focused on the group and chased them through the time portal. The group barely got away from the predator. But after looking at it they realized what it was and were scared to move as it looked at them and rammed the wall trying to knock them off the catwalk they were on. The staff were able to get the predator to stop trying to get them by having keepers to drop a dead cow in the holding pen. The group told them that they thought it was a allosaurus in the past but after looking at it it clearly was something else what gave the species away was the weight behind the ram the therapod did and the size up close it is a saurophaganax.
The park has also hired a new staff person to help with the small animals that person is mightymo. Mightymo requested that the capture group catch a few things in the Morrison Formation for the small animal building. The capture group agreed to do that since they figured it would not be that hard. The group returned to the past and went looking for something small but going back they stumbled upon the dead diplodocus which was being eaten by a allosaurus fragilis but something much bigger was also wanting to eat it but they didn't want to share it. The larger predator lunged at the allosaurus caught off guard and had it by the head. The allosaurus got free and tried being intimidating to the larger predator which the group identified as a torvosaurus. The group knew that it was a requested species by a few staff members but they were a little under prepared but figured they would give it a try anyway since they figured it would not be that hard for them. They set up the time portal and fired an empty tranquilizer dart at the torvosaurus getting its attention. It let out what should like angry crocodile but much louder before running at the group. The group got away and the torvosaurus had been brought to the present but was very agitated and the ramming of the saurophaganax on its holding pen walls wasn't helping. A keeper threw a large chunk of meat on a rope into one of the holding pens that had nothing in it and the torvosaurus smelled the meat and followed the scent into the holding pen before the other keepers dropped a dead cow into the pen with the torvosaurus. Calming it down as it fed then went asleep.
