Episode 6: Land Of Titans
“Here we are, in the Morrison Formation of the late Jurassic,” A Diplodocus walks by and starts eating. “It is full of dinosaurs, and has over 15 different genera of sauropods alone,” A brachiosaurus also walks by and knocks down a tree, while a Camarasaurus bellows. A group of Dryosaurus scurries around in the undergrowth. “It truly is the Time Of Titans!”
The narrator pauses, and an Allosaurus lunges out of the camera, and grabs a larger Dryosaurus, causing the rest of the flock to flee. The Allosaurus rips the head off of the Dryosaurus and swallows it.
Choking is heard, and the narrator spits out his drink. “That, whoa my gosh, that freaking scared me. I was just jamming out the Time Of The Titans by Benjamin Barlett in my mind, and the Allosaurus just shows up out of nowhere! We’re recording this live by the way, and I nearly had a heart attack! Well, this is the lion of the Jurassic. Allosaurus,”
The Allosaurus starts to rip off its arm, but a small clan of Ceratosaurus come and tries to scare it away. The Allosaurus puts up a threatening display to scare the Ceratosaurus away, but they do warning bites to make the Allosaurus scared, and it works. The Allosaurus snarls and walks away. “I’m super happy those Ceratosaurus got the carcass, I’m tired of Allosaurus always bullying Ceratosaurus! Now for some facts! Ceratosaurus does have three horns on its head, but they’re not used for fighting, but for display, and they can even lightly change colors to attract mates!”
Over near a river, a herd of Drinker starts drinking from it, while a Fruitachampsa wanders by. A Camarasaurus walks by and kicks a Drinker away so it's able to drink, and the whole herd runs. A Stegosaurus grazes nearby and a young Brontosaurus tries to get leaves from the top of the tree, and its parent knocks down the tree. A Saurophagnax runs from the other side of the river and bites the base of the neck of the young thunder lizard. The young Brontosaurus rears up onto its hind legs and slams the Saurophaganax into a tree, and starts running.
The mother Brontosaurus whips the Saurophaganax, causing it to fall. The Brontosaurus bellows and heads to its calf, which is gone. A Torvosaurus has gotten to the calf and starts to feast. “Nature can be cruel sometimes, like this, however it is the cycle of life and death, that will persist throughout the whole existence of life as we know it”.
A Camptosaurus starts to dig a place to rest, and while it isn’t a full burrow, it might help protect the vulnerable parts of its body from predators, however its herd can still help protect it via lookouts.
A Mymooropelta finds a small tree with some nuts that Mymooropelta specifically adore, and it slams into the tree, acting like an ax to chop it down. A Maraapunisaurus starts to eat from some taller trees, while a Brachiosaurus tries to eat from it, but the Maraapunisaurus doesn’t let the Brachiosaurus access it. The Brachiosaurus rears up and slams its massive weight into the side of the Maraapunisaurus. The Maraapunisaurus bellows and pushes the Brachiosaurus away, which the Brachiosaurus bellows back, but walks away.
A pride of 4 Saurophaganax starts chasing a Camarasaurus, who whips one of them and knocks it to the ground. The Camarasaurus bites one of the Saurophaganax on the neck, rears up on its hind legs, drops the Saurophaganax, and crushes it. “Camarasaurus has a weirdly strong bite for sauropods, so it possibly used it for defense”
The remaining Saurophaganax realized that this hunt wasn’t going in their favor, so they give up with the hunt, letting the Camarasaurus free.
An Allosaurus sleeps in a little valley, when a Stegosaurus comes, and gets surprised when it finds the Allosaurus. The Stegosaurus bellows, scaring a mixed herd of Drinker and Camptosaurus get startled and run away, causing a few Mesadactylus to fly away. The Allosaurus wakes up and snarls, and does the same threatening display that was seen earlier.
The Allosaurus smacks the Stegosaurus in the head and bites a plate and breaks it. The Stegosaurus bellows painfully and slams its full weight into the Allosaurus, and slices a tendon in the Allosaurus’s leg. The Allosaurus screams, but bites down on the head of the Stegosaurus, and slashes its neck. The Allosaurus releases its target, and the Stegosaurus bellows weakly before falling to the ground. The Allosaurus feasts and a Stokesosaurus sneaks in as many bites as possible.
